Getting started with EasyDesign
From your first sign-in to working with your team. This guide covers the customer portal and EasyDesign 3.5 or later.
Before you start
- A Windows computer with Autodesk Inventor 2025 or 2026 installed.
- An internet connection for account setup, installation downloads and your first EasyDesign sign-in.
- Access to your email and an authenticator app, such as Microsoft Authenticator.
- Permission to install software on your computer. Your IT team may need to help.
EasyDesign works with Autodesk Inventor; it does not include an Inventor licence.
Create and verify your account
- Open Customer Login. If you already use EasyDesign, use the same username and password. Otherwise select Create your account.
- Follow the email verification instructions. Check your junk folder if the message does not arrive.
- When asked to set up your authenticator, scan the QR code and enter the current six-digit code. Keep any recovery codes somewhere private and safe.
- Continue to My Account. Your username and organisation appear near the top.
Each person should use their own account. Remember a browser only on a computer you trust, and never share passwords, authenticator codes or recovery codes.
Create or join your organisation
Setting up for the first time? Choose Set up a business, or the personal-use option if appropriate. The person creating the organisation becomes its Company Administrator. A company registration number is optional.
Joining an existing team? Ask its Company Administrator to invite the email address used for your EasyDesign account. Open the invitation email, sign in and select Accept invitation. You do not need to enter an invitation code or create another business.
Entering an existing business name does not join or claim that organisation.
Choose how to get access
Your Company Administrator can arrange access through Billing and invoice requests in My Account.
- Seven-day trial: starts when the administrator selects the trial button. No card or phone number is required. There is one trial per organisation, and it does not automatically become a paid subscription.
- Card or Direct Debit: £195 excluding VAT, or £234 including 20% VAT, per month for 10 device installations. Choose one month only with no automatic renewal, or continuous monthly payments until cancelled. Online setup is for UK customers with a UK billing address. Pay by debit or credit card, or use Bacs Direct Debit with a UK bank account. Paid access starts after payment confirmation; Direct Debit clearance can take several working days.
- Pay by invoice: request an invoice arrangement from Gendraw. When Gendraw Management approves Pay by Invoice, your organisation’s licence becomes active and ongoing, with no expiry date.
Billing details and payment controls require the appropriate Accounts overview permission. Starting or managing a monthly subscription also requires Company Administrator access.
Download, install and sign in
- Once your organisation has active access, open My Account and use its EasyDesign ZIP download button. It provides the latest release covered by your organisation’s licence.
- Save the ZIP, right-click it in Windows and select Extract All.
- Save your work and close EasyDesign and Inventor before installing or updating. Open the extracted folder and run the MSI installer. Follow its prompts; ask your IT team for administrator assistance if needed.
- Open EasyDesign while connected to the internet. Sign in with the same account used on the website and complete any requested verification.
- Check your organisation and licence details before starting work. For your first run, use a copy of a familiar Inventor project, review the drawing and output settings, then check the generated results.
Downloading does not use an installation slot. Signing in to activate a computer does. The 10-installation allowance is shared across your organisation.
The application and installer are signed as Gendraw Limited. If Windows or your security software raises an unexpected warning, check the publisher and contact Gendraw or your IT team before continuing.
Invite colleagues and manage computers
- As Company Administrator, open People and invitations in My Account.
- Under Invite a colleague, enter their email and choose User or Company Administrator.
- Select Send invitation. The email comes from no-reply@gendraw.com on your behalf. The invitation is valid for seven days and one acceptance.
- Your colleague creates or signs in to their own account using the invited email address, then accepts the invitation.
Grant Accounts overview only to people who need billing access. Keep at least one Company Administrator.
Use Device installations to release a computer you no longer use. Released installations are refused at their next licence check and must be explicitly reactivated to use a slot again. Removing a person does not release shared computers.
Working without an internet connection
EasyDesign 3.5 can allow up to seven days of offline use after a successful online sign-in and licence check. Permission is tied to your account and computer and ends earlier if your licence expires.
After upgrading, sign in online once to establish this permission. Reconnect and sign in online to renew it. Administration requires an internet connection.
If access expires, current work can finish safely, but new protected operations are blocked until access is restored. A disconnected computer may retain an already-issued permission until its deadline even if access is cancelled remotely.
Manage payments and cancellation
In My Account → Billing and invoice requests, check the current billing option, payment status and confirmed access expiry. Use the VAT toggle to choose how the monthly price is displayed; the total payable remains £234.
One-month purchases stop automatically after their first billing period. For continuous monthly payments, select Manage subscription and invoices to open Stripe’s secure billing page. You can cancel renewal at any time and retain access until the end of your paid period. A failed payment does not extend that period.
If you already have an invoice arrangement or a manually activated licence, contact Gendraw before switching to Direct Debit.
If something does not work
- No download button?
- Check that you have joined the correct organisation and that its licence is active. An account alone does not grant download access.
- A verification code is rejected?
- Use the authenticator entry for your EasyDesign username and a current code. The development website uses a separate EasyDesign Development entry. Check that your phone’s date and time are automatic.
- All installation slots are in use?
- Ask your Company Administrator to review Device installations and release an unused computer.
- Payment is still processing?
- Use Check payment status in My Account. Direct Debit confirmation is not immediate. Avoid starting another subscription while the existing setup is processing.
- Offline permission has expired?
- Reconnect and sign in online. If your licence has also expired, ask your administrator to arrange access.
Contact Gendraw with your EasyDesign version, Inventor version, the action you were taking and the exact error message. Do not send passwords, verification codes or bank details.
